Roadworthy in Innisfail

When Do You Need a Roadworthy?

In Queensland, it's a legal requirement that all vehicles must have a current roadworthy certificate before they can be sold. An RWC is only issued once a vehicle has passed a safety inspection, carried out by an authorised inspector.

At Advanced Auto Electrics & Mechanical, we are an authorised inspection station, meaning we can carry out RWCs for all types of vehicles.

We can also provide you with a quote for any repairs that may be needed to get your vehicle up to scratch.

To book a roadworthy inspection, give us a call on
(07) 4061 1998 or drop into our workshop at 59 Grace Street. Based in Innisfail, we also service Mission Beach, Babinda and Tully.

How A Roadworthy Inspection Works

The inspection covers a range of items on the vehicle, including:

  • Tyres & wheels
  • Brakes
  • Steering & suspension
  • Lights & reflectors
  • Windscreen wipers & washers
  • Body rust & damage
  • Seats & seatbelts

If your vehicle fails its roadworthy inspection, don't despair! We can carry out any repairs that are needed to bring it up to standard. This may be as simple as replacing the wiper blades or something a little more complex. Once the repairs are complete, we'll re-inspect the vehicle and issue an RWC when it passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is inspected during a roadworthy certificate check?

A roadworthy inspection assesses key safety components including brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights and structural integrity. The inspection ensures the vehicle meets minimum safety standards required for registration transfer or re-registration under Queensland regulations.

  • How long does a roadworthy inspection take?

The inspection itself often takes under an hour, depending on vehicle condition. If faults are identified, repairs must be completed before a certificate can be issued. Timeframes vary based on the type and extent of required repairs.

  • What happens if my car fails a roadworthy?

If a vehicle fails inspection, a list of required repairs is provided. The owner must rectify the identified issues within a specified timeframe before reinspection. Once all safety concerns are addressed, a certificate can be issued if standards are met.
